OZARK, MO – History will soon be on the move as the city relocates a longtime landmark.
Since 1983, an old Frisco Railway caboose has sat on display at Finley River Park. It’s a well-known feature at the park. But following several floods over the years, the city has decided that the railcar needs to be relocated to higher ground.
Monday, August 24th, is moving day. The caboose will be lifted onto a large flatbed truck in the morning hours and slowly transported down city streets to its new home next to the OC Community Center. Police will guide the wide load and direct traffic. The journey will last into the afternoon.
The railcar’s new spot on the OC grounds will be right next to the Chadwick Flyer Trail, which was originally a Frisco rairlaod line. The city is inviting the public out for the move and is setting up viewing areas both at the park and the OC…
