BERKELEY COUNTY, SC — A Berkeley County sheriff’s deputy was struck Friday night by an alleged drunken driver on North Main Street near the Jersey Mike’s at Carnes Crossroads, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver left the scene after the collision, but law enforcement later stopped the vehicle. The sheriff’s office said the South Carolina Highway Patrol carried out that stop, and the driver was charged with driving under the influence.
Officials said the deputy was not injured.
