Louisville man charged after violent attack on pregnant woman forced emergency delivery

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A Louisville man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly attacked a pregnant woman, resulting in a ruptured placenta, liver laceration, and an emergency C-section.

Desmond Potts, 31, was arrested Friday, Aug. 21 and is being charged with first-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault (child abuse), third-degree terroristic threatening, and menacing.

Court records say that the incident began as a verbal altercation at a Louisville residence on Aug. 20. Potts allegedly pushed his forehead into that of the victim. When she tried to push him away, Potts reportedly grabbed her, slamming her onto her back on a couch. The victim was 31 weeks pregnant with twins…
