Authorities Issue Arrest Warrant for Missing Massachusetts Woman Following Death of Worcester Police Officer

WORCESTER, Mass. – Police have issued an arrest warrant for Karen Solomon, 58, who has been missing for several days after her husband, Kurt Solomon, a veteran Worcester police officer, was found dead in their shared home.

Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier announced on Friday that Karen Solomon faces charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. Investigators have been searching for her since Tuesday and warn that she should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers responding to a call at the Worcester residence discovered Officer Kurt Solomon, 57, deceased. Body camera footage captured Karen Solomon walking nearby shortly after police arrived, wearing casual attire. Chief Saucier revealed that Kurt Solomon’s death resulted from injuries inflicted by a sharp object but withheld further details due to the ongoing investigation.

“We will not stop until we find her, either here or elsewhere,” Saucier stated, emphasizing the department’s commitment to providing closure for the officer’s family and colleagues.

Search Efforts Concentrated Near Coes Pond

The search for Karen Solomon remains focused around Coes Pond in Worcester, where authorities are deploying dive teams, police dogs, sonar technology, helicopters, and marine units. In response, the city has temporarily closed Coes Pond parks, adjacent beaches, and the historic Stearns Tavern while the investigation continues.

Chief Saucier urged the public to report any credible sightings of Karen Solomon but cautioned against approaching her, as she is considered dangerous.

Remembering Officer Kurt Solomon’s Service

Kurt Solomon served the Worcester Police Department for 31 years and was also an Army veteran. Known for his love of golf, fishing, and gardening, he is survived by two sons, his mother, two brothers, and his dog, Merle.

An obituary described him as a dedicated public servant with a sharp wit and deep connection to his lifelong neighborhood.

Background on Karen Solomon

Prior to the investigation, Karen Solomon was recognized for her advocacy on behalf of first responders’ mental health. She co-founded First H.E.L.P., an organization supporting emergency personnel and honoring those lost to suicide, and authored two books on the physical and psychological challenges faced by first responders.

Officials have refrained from commenting on the couple’s relationship status, citing domestic violence privacy protections. First H.E.L.P. has extended condolences to the Solomon family and the Worcester law enforcement community while reaffirming its support for first responders.
