Man sent to prison for Millcreek stabbing over drug dispute

WEST JORDAN — A man is spending time in prison after admitting to injuring a man with a knife in a Millcreek apartment.

Joaquin “Chewy” Alvaro Sanchez, 47, was sentenced on July 30 by 3rd District Court Judge Randall Skanchy to zero to five years in prison for aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He was given credit for the 235 days he had already spent in custody.

A police booking affidavit said police were called to Intermountain Medical Center in the early morning hours of Nov. 24, 2025, for a patient who had been stabbed, sustaining a 5-inch laceration…
