West Side Original Maxwell Street Closed Days After Fatal Shooting, Failed Building Inspection

WEST GARFIELD PARK — A popular West Side hot dog stand has closed days after failing a building inspection and less than a week after a woman was shot and killed outside of the restaurant.

Original Maxwell Street, 3801 W. Harrison Ave., was closed to the public Sunday, though it is not clear if the closure was voluntary or forced by the city.

A worker was seen pasting handwritten signs onto a few barrels placed around the perimeter of the business, with the signs directing customers to the Original Maxwell Street near Cicero Avenue and Jackson Boulevard. The worker declined comment…
