Rail Aware responds to railroad safety concerns caused by Hawk Fire

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Watch Duty alerted Rail Aware Inc. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11:25 a.m., to the developing Hawk Fire north of Reno after receiving emergency notifications indicating that evacuation zones could affect railroad infrastructure in the area, according to a Sunday, Aug. 23, agency news release.

“Railroad infrastructure remains an important part of the emergency picture when wildfires, evacuations or other incidents develop,” said Lynn Sandell of Rail Aware. “Our goal is to help identify potential railroad safety concerns and make sure information gets to the appropriate people as quickly as possible.”
