Richland County opens 154 new cases at Alvin S. Glenn, two guards arrested

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — Sheriff Leon Lott announced an update Monday regarding the investigation of a large number of cases that have occurred at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

On June 30, 2026, Sheriff Lott held a press conference regarding the most recent arrests made during the investigation at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Since then RCSD has opened at least 154 new cases stemming from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center investigation.

The cases include aggravated assaults, simple assaults, assaults on jail staff, contraband inside the jail, overdoses, sexual assaults, throwing bodily fluids, threatening the life of public officials, indecent exposures, misconduct in office, vandalism, arson and strong-armed robbery…
