An Ohio manufacturing company has filed a defamation lawsuit against a Columbus woman over a one-star Google review, arguing that the online post contained false statements that damaged the company’s reputation and business operations. According to court filings, Vienna-based Starr Manufacturing Inc., a family-owned company that produces industrial equipment, filed suit against Julie Watson in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Aug. 12. The company alleges that Watson published inaccurate claims about its manufacturing practices and product quality in a public Google review, Yahoo! reported.
The lawsuit contends that the review went beyond expressing dissatisfaction and included specific allegations about manufacturing defects, quality-control failures and problems involving multiple customers.
