It may still look and feel like summer, but foliage on trees across Michigan will soon transform, as early as the first week of October in parts of northern Michigan, forecasters say.

Foliage in the western Upper Peninsula is projected to be the first to change colors in the second week in September, according to Explore Fall’s Michigan Fall Foliage Map 2026.
