Clinton County Prosecutor recall language rejected by State Board of Canvassers

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Two different petition proposals to recall Clinton County Prosecutor Tony Spagnuolo were rejected Monday by the State Board of Canvassers.

Organizer and Chief of Police in Ovid Lisa Rousseau submitted two proposed statements for recall to the Board Canvassers. The Board is required to review the language for clarity as well as whether the information is factual.

“You said you looked forward to the state bar holding him accountable and you have filed bar grievances, but what you have said in your recall reasons is that he has violate the rules of professional conduct,” said Board Vice Chair Mary Ellen Gurewitz, a Democrat. “That is not a fact. That is your opinion. It is not the conclusion of the state bar and that’s a significant assertion which is not fact.”
