Beloved Lafayette bike store closes up shop after 101 years

(KRON)– After 101 years in business, Hank & Frank Bicycles is closing its doors.

The shop was founded in 1925 on East 14th Street in Oakland. Through the years, the shop moved a couple of times, until ultimately landing in Lafayette, where it served the Contra Costa County community for 52 years.

In a statement posted to the shop’s website, Hank & Frank Bicycles wrote, “This decision comes with full heart, deep gratitude, and an enduring love for the community that has carried us for generations.”

They continued, “We have had the privilege of watching children grow up on bikes, then return years later to buy bikes for their own children. We have seen families through milestones, seasons, and lifetimes with us.”…
