JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A cluster of thunderstorms that developed early Monday morning brought much-needed rain across the region and knocked out the threat for dangerous heat Monday afternoon.
The organized system, known as a mesoscale convective complex, moved through the area this morning, leaving lingering light to moderate rain and embedded thunderstorms in its wake through early afternoon. While rain chances will decrease through the afternoon, additional showers and thunderstorms could develop again late Monday night into Tuesday morning along a moisture axis aligned with northwest winds aloft.
Perhaps the most welcome aspect of Monday’s rain is the cooler air it brought to the region. Temperatures were hovering around 78 degrees by early afternoon—a sharp contrast to what could have been a dangerous heat day…
