LITTLE ROCK, AR — Arkansas State Police have released details on five fatal wrecks that happened from Wednesday through Friday in different parts of the state. The crashes killed five people and left two others injured, according to preliminary reports. They happened in Independence, Pulaski, Polk, Madison and Benton counties.
The wrecks involved a vehicle that overturned after leaving the road near Newark, a police chase that ended on Interstate 430 in Little Rock, a pickup that rolled near Wickes, a two-vehicle collision near Huntsville, and a motorcycle crash in Centerton. In several of the cases, investigators said the weather was clear and the roads were dry. The agency said each crash is still documented through its preliminary reporting process.
Newark Crash
Wilfred Conditt, 80, of Newport died Friday morning after his 2022 Ford Explorer left Arkansas 69 near Newark and overturned. State police said the crash happened at 9:23 a.m. near the Arkansas 69B intersection.
According to the report, Conditt was driving north when the SUV left the roadway, climbed an embankment, went airborne and rolled. Troopers said the weather was clear and the pavement was dry. Arkansas State Police Cpl. Brandon Trewyn investigated the wreck.
