EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A man was arrested on Tuesday after an EPD officer caught him sleeping in a downtown parking garage.
An affidavit says an officer was patrolling the Locust Street Parking Garage on Wednesday morning. During the patrol, the officer found a man, later identified as 72-year-old David Lamb, sleeping on the bottom of the stairwell under the stairs. The officer woke him up and told him no trespassing signs were posted in the garage and he couldn’t sleep there. Lamb told the officer he and a friend entered the garage to sleep.
Lamb was taken into custody without incident and charged with trespassing. He is now in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
The arrest comes after police say the owners of the garage, Deaconess Health Systems, have been fighting to keep non hospital staff out of the garage. EPD documents say between April 22 and May 5, 28 people were asked to leave the garage…
