The Modesto Teachers Association (MTA) is feuding with Modesto City Schools Trustee Jolene Daly over recent social media posts criticizing MTA members and encouraging teachers to leave the union. The controversial posts include comments in which Daly refers to union leaders as “bullies” and “liars.”
The feud comes as Modesto City Schools and the MTA negotiate a new contract. After talks stalled, some MTA members criticized the Board of Education for approving a 292% increase in its own stipends. That helped set off the social media firestorm with Daly.
