Quarter-size hail, 75 mph winds could hit parts of Texas. Here’s where

Severe storms are possible in Texas on Tuesday afternoon, August 25, according to the National Weather Service Amarillo office.

Damaging wind gusts of 75 mph are the main threat, but quarter-sized hail and localized flash flooding remain possible, as well as a very low tornado risk, NWS said in a post on X. The overall area is under a level 2 of 5 risk for widespread severe storms.

Cities like Dalhart, Stratford and Amarillo could see widespread severe storms starting as early as 5 p.m., with a “most likely” window between 6 p.m. and midnight, according to NWS…
