Three masked men, at least one carrying a rifle, robbed a Loomis armored truck outside a Burger King on Chicago’s South Side Tuesday afternoon before speeding off in a car that police radio dispatchers said may have been headed for the expressway. Officers responded to the fast-food restaurant at 110 E. 95th St. in Roseland, where the truck had stopped, and no further details were immediately available.
The robbery, first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, unfolded at a Burger King that sits along a stretch of 95th Street with quick access to the Bishop Ford Freeway, or Interstate 94, according to restaurant location data listed on Grubhub. That proximity would give a fleeing crew a fast route out of the neighborhood, and it lines up with the dispatchers’ report that the suspects may have been making for the highway. Police were on the scene at the Burger King as the investigation got underway, per the same wire account.
Loomis, one of North America’s largest secure cash logistics providers, has been targeted before on the South Side. In May 2025, three young armed suspects ambushed and robbed a Loomis truck outside a U.S. Bank on Western Avenue in suburban Blue Island, just south of the Chicago border, according to Cardinal News.
