OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – About 600 students across the Omaha metro started the school year without a backpack, according to Lord of Host Church, which is now working to fill the gap.
One month ago, the church held a back-to-school drive, handing out free backpacks and supplies.
Drive fell short of expectations
Bob Pettigrew said the church purchased 1,000 backpacks but only gave out 200.
