Conroe ISD approves $769M budget but will face a shortfall of $6M in its debt fund

Conroe ISD trustees approved a lower tax rate for 2027, but the district faces a $6.2 million shortfall in its debt service fund, which district officials say will likely require a tax rate increase in 2028.

The board unanimously adopted its $769 million budget on Aug. 18. The budget includes a state-required pay increase for some teachers but a salary freeze for all other district employees.
