Independence shuts down city parks due to insufficient funding

INDEPENDENCE, Ore. (KPTV) – All city parks in Independence are closed indefinitely due to a lack of funding. According to the city, its museum will close August 26 and its library is also at risk of closing.

“All of us are questioning what’s the intent of the city?” said Rob Juliano, who lives in Independence.

Instead of a riverfront view, community members in Independence found a chain-link fence in front of Riverview Park. Multiple signs were posted along the fence, which said all city parks are indefinitely closed due to insufficient funding…
