Madison native set to start at quarterback for ACC school

Former North Carolina and South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez has won the starting job at Wake Forest, according to a report by On3.

Lopez, a Madison native who played his high school ball at James Clemens, transferred to Wake Forest during the offseason. With the Demon Deacons, he’s reunited with offensive coordinator Rob Ezell, who helped recruit him to South Alabama in 2023.
