Musume restaurant to reopen nearly three years after Sandman Hotel explosion

Nearly three years after a gas explosion in the Sandman Hotel basement, Musume restaurant will reopen its doors, according to an emailed press release on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Located in the historic W.T. Waggoner Building at 810 Houston St., the Asian fusion restaurant was only open for six months before the January 2024 explosion wrecked through the basement kitchen, causing two floors to collapse and injuring 21 people.

Musume originally opened in Dallas in 2018 and then expanded to downtown Fort Worth in 2023. A third location opened last year at The Star in Frisco. The Japanese sushi and steakhouse flies in fresh fish from Japan and offers the largest sake and Japanese whiskey collections in the metroplex…
