Tim Curry, known for his iconic roles and famously private personal life, rarely spoke about his past relationships. Yet, shortly before his passing on August 26, 2026, at age 80, he shared a glimpse into his “great love” with his trademark wit intact.
In a 2019 interview with Charlie Adler-six years after suffering a stroke-Curry was asked if there was one true love he regretted losing. Without missing a beat, he replied, “Sure, there always is. Piggy,” playfully adding, “I’ll tell you, once you’ve had pork, you never go back.”
This humorous nod referred to his role opposite Miss Piggy in the 1996 film Muppet Treasure Island, where Curry portrayed the pirate Long John Silver and Piggy played Benjamina Gunn, Silver’s former flame.
After Curry’s death, Miss Piggy honored him with a heartfelt message: “Moi will never forget vous, Long John,” accompanied by a pink heart emoji.
The Muppets also paid tribute, stating, “Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry. As a performer, he was unparalleled-witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny.
We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.”
Throughout his life, Curry maintained a guarded stance on his private affairs. In his 2025 memoir Vagabond, he acknowledged experiencing both love and heartbreak, writing, “I guarantee you, if it matters, that I have experienced true love, true heartbreak, and everything in between, including no small amount of wreckage.
Which, naturally, helps inform who I am. I have loved and been loved, and I hope you have, too.
But I’m not interested in your romances.”
He concluded firmly, “And specifics about my affairs of the heart or the bedroom are-respectfully-none of your f-king business.”
