EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The courtroom heats up on day 4 of the Samuel Hugger trial in Evansville.
Daniel Alvey, the man police say Huggler hired to kill his brother in 2021, spent nearly 6 hours on the stand leaving no stone unturned as he recalls that fateful December night. Alvey became a key witness for the state after pleading guilty to the shooting.
His frustrations on the stand rose during cross examination. The defense recognized discrepancies between his initial arrest, his 2025 deposition and this week’s testimony.
This frustration led Alvey to throwing his copy of the deposition transcript across the courtroom floor. Alvey claims he was threatened by Huggler to take money from him to commit the murder…
