Albany County bill holding parents accountable for juvenile crimes tabled

A bill designed to hold parents and guardians accountable when minors commit serious crimes in Albany County is tabled for now.

One of the bill’s sponsors, county Legislator Mark Robinson, said the legislation was tabled because the chair of the county Legislature’s Law Committee, Jeffrey Kuhn, would not vote it out of committee.

Kuhn responded to that, saying he didn’t know about the proposal until it was introduced. He also said he had reservations about whether it violated the due process clause of the Constitution, and stated he would not vote for it because of what he called pervasive legal and policy shortcomings…
