Fort Worth Homebuyer events offer up to $50K in down payment aid

DALLAS (KDAF) — Two upcoming Fort Worth events will provide prospective homebuyers with information on programs offering between $25,000 and $50,000 in down payment assistance. The events aim to help buyers navigate high home prices and learn the essential steps involved in purchasing a home.

The upcoming programs are hosted by the Fort Worth Community Land Trust and Housing Channel in cooperation with the City of Fort Worth. Eligibility for the down payment assistance is generally restricted to qualified buyers whose household incomes do not exceed 80% of the area median income, adjusted for family size. For example, the income cap for a four-person household is $88,250.

The free Fort Worth Homebuyer Fair will take place Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Heights High School, 3908 McCart Ave. Attendees can meet with lenders, realtors and housing experts to learn about the purchasing process.
