CHICAGO — Felony charges have been filed against a Chicago man accused of a deadly hit-and-run crash on the city’s Far South Side late last month.
Chicago police say 45-year-old Darryl Short has been charged with one felony count of reckless homicide and one felony count of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death.
According to police, the deadly crash unfolded on July 24, 2026, in the 2200 block of West 79th Street in Auburn Gresham.
Officers said that just before the crash, Short was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed. He then struck and killed a 47-year-old woman who was riding a scooter in the area…
