Mayor Helena Moreno’s administration is proposing a 34% increase in the city’s monthly sanitation fee, a bid to better cover service costs that the mayor has been foreshadowing since she took office this year.
The fee for residential service would go from $24 to $32.25 under a proposal a City Council committee will consider Thursday. The commercial rate would increase from $48 to $64.50.
The new fee is intended to align with the current cost of service, and would be effective through the end of next year.
