TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A portion of a Troy street has been designated to honor a local veteran group. A ceremony was held on Wednesday to unveil the honorary street sign designation for C.R.A.B. Garrison Way on a portion of Liberty Street.

The C.R.A.B. Garrison #1954 Club was founded in 1954 and honors the memory of four individuals from Rensselaer County who died serving the nation, including Carmen Ciccarelli, John Rea, James Agars and Bruno Bevevino. The first letter of each of their last names makes up the “C.R.A.B.” acronym.
C.R.A.B. Club provides a welcoming place for veterans to gather, supports those who have served and gives back through community events, charitable efforts and acts of service. Troy city officials say that the organization’s commitment to honoring local veterans and strengthening the Troy community has left a lasting impact on generations.
The nonprofit has been a cornerstone of Troy’s veteran community for over seven decades, officials say. The honorary street designation aims to recognize the club’s legacy and celebrates its place in the fabric of the city.

Over 450 people gathered for the street sign dedication ceremony in Troy on Wednesday. Commander of the C.R.A.B. Garrison #1954 Club, Joshua Hearne, spoke on the significance of the recognition.
“What it means to us, is that their names are sketched in history no matter what. They signed a blank check up to and including their lives, they gave their lives. In today’s world, you don’t find people like this. It’s a constant reminder of what it takes for freedom.”…
