Los Al to celebrate 100th Anniversary of St. Isidore Chapel structure in city

This coming Saturday, August 29, the Rhythm & Reed of father and son musical duo Rey and Daniel Barceló will grace the open air courtyard of the St. Isidore’s Historical Plaza, in honor of the chapel and plaza‘s centennial year of serving the community at the same corner of Reagan Street and Katella Avenue for the past 100 years. There will be song, feasting and dancing into the night at this grand celebration for this great little chapel and plaza, and a little magic too.

With over 50 years of experience between them as accomplished musical performers, the Barceló trio will open the evening with a festive happy hour, serenading the gala dinner-goers with a lively playlist of American standards. Young Daniel, a Los Alamitos High graduate and UC Irvine wind ensemble member, is a versatile jazz saxophonist fresh off a national tour with the award-winning Pacific Crest Drum Corps.

Also, the Great Carlos (also a Barceló) will perform during the Happy Hour with tableside magic for guests. Guests will be called to the banquet tables by noted internationally acclaimed tenor Chad Berlinghieri singing a personally selected song as a prelude to the dinner.

In addition to tenor Berlinghieri and the magical and musical stylings of the Barcelós, there will be a live dance band, The Soul Shadows, a very popular pop musical group to take dinner goers into the dancing portion of the evening (evening attire is suggested).

Saturday’s festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with our happy hour at the plaza, plus entertainment, then dinner and dancing into the night. Be a part of this once in a lifetime celebration in recognition of St. Isidore Historic Chapel and Plaza, its recent state and federal historical designations, and its 100 years of serving the communities of Los Alamitos and beyond. Come celebrate with us…
