HOUSTON (CW39) -Three people, including a juvenile, were arrested after police say they stole nearly $14,000 worth of iPads from a Target store in Sugar Land. The arrests came Tuesday evening after officers responded to a reported theft in progress and found the suspects trying to leave the parking lot, according to the Sugar Land Police Department.

How did police catch the suspects?
Officers responded to the Target around 7 p.m. Aug. 25 after receiving a report of a theft in progress. Surveillance video showed the suspects allegedly breaking the glass on a store display case, taking several items and putting them into a garbage bag before leaving the store.
Officers found the suspects as they tried to leave the parking lot in a black passenger vehicle. When police detained the front passenger, a rear passenger tried to run but was quickly caught. All three suspects were taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Who was arrested?
Two men were booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on state jail felony theft charges, according to police. The third suspect is a juvenile and was taken to the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center. The juvenile’s name was not released because of the suspect’s age.
Could they be linked to other thefts?
Sugar Land investigators believe the suspects may be connected to similar thefts reported in Brazoria, Harris and Galveston counties. Those cases remain under investigation, and additional charges are possible as Sugar Land police work with law enforcement agencies in the neighboring counties.
