ALBANY — Four men who claim they were beaten by correction officers while incarcerated at Albany County jail last year, including three who suffered multiple broken bones, have filed a federal lawsuit against the county and Sheriff Craig Apple alleging their constitutional rights were violated.
The lawsuit, filed this week in U.S. District Court in Albany, comes as allegations of excessive force at the jail have mounted in recent years with local activists calling for more outside oversight of the facility, which usually houses nearly 1,000 inmates.
The four men who filed the federal lawsuit — Cory Thompson, Jai-Ream Daniels, Isiah Parker-Bagaba and Jermaine Brown — are all represented by attorney Kevin A. Luibrand. Their civil complaint alleges they were all beaten in separate incidents in January and February 2025, either in their cells or other areas of the jail that apparently are not monitored by fixed surveillance cameras…
