Execution date set for man convicted of killing Vanderburgh County children

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Indiana Supreme Court has ordered that convicted child killer Jeffrey Weisheit’s execution date be set for Nov. 5.

Weisheit was convicted for the 2010 murders of 8-year-old Alyssa Lynch and 5-year-old Caleb Lynch. Earlier this year, the state filed its verified motion to set the execution date for Weisheit after he exhausted all appellate and federal habeas avenues.

Authorities say Weisheit tied up Caleb using duct tape and then lit railroad flares in his clothing. The fire spread throughout the home and also killed Alyssa. He was captured after leading authorities on a chase into Kentucky…
