Lexington mayor files formal complaint against Kentucky American Water

Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton is taking her frustration over ongoing Kentucky American Water Co. construction to the state’s utility regulators.

In a complaint filed with the Kentucky Public Service Commission Aug. 28, the mayor cited problems on Fontaine Road, North Limestone Street and High Street, but said there are issues in other locations across the city and worries increased construction-related costs may be passed on to consumers.

For two years, the complaint said, the water company’s construction practices in rights-of-way have “been conducted unreasonably, causing inadequate and insufficient service for Fayette County residents, creating disruption to commerce and traffic, and damage to public and personal property.”…
