A fire tore through a family’s 17-acre property in the Town of Winton this week, destroying the home and nearly everything owner Charlie Gorden had collected over a lifetime on the land.
The blaze broke out Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Walnut Avenue and California Street, directly across from Winfield Elementary School.
Gorden, who has lived on the property since 1961, told Action News he was mowing high grass when a spark caught in the dry field. Within minutes, the fire spread across three acres of the property…
