BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The third annual Shakir Family Pet Adoption Event was held at Knox Farm State Park on Saturday with the hope of bringing the community together in support of local rescue animals.
Hosted by Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir and the Shakir Family Foundation, the event was inspired by Shakir’s own pet rescue journey with his dog, Missy.
“The light that [Missy] shines on the Shakir family is amazing,” Shakir said. “The idea of starting this was to just try and give families opportunities to have that same experience and have that same love in their household.”…
