Long Island’s first annual potato fest to be held at Farmingdale State College

Long Island’s first annual potato festival will honor the area’s history and rich agricultural roots.

“Having this festival really brings people back to what we used to be as a region, and not just the suburbs that we are today, but most of our businesses, most of our industries, and most of our developments … were born from potato farms,” Alissa Marti, head of strategic partnerships and publicity for Connoisseur Media Long Island, said.

Marti said she does not have a personal connection to potato farming, but wanted to plan an event that would honor the region’s history.
