In Spokane, Washington, the Old Trail fire destroyed an extraordinarily rare 100+-year-old automobile, one of only eight remaining in the world.
The vehicle, a 1911 Pope-Hartford Model W, was acquired by Don Poffenroth, former founder of Dry Fly Distilling, shortly after he retired. He housed it in his collection alongside a 1911 Ford Model T that he had owned for roughly ten years.
While traveling to Montana for a fly-fishing excursion, Poffenroth received word that a fast-moving wildfire had consumed both of his collectible automobiles and every house located in his cul-de-sac.
