CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – As the City of Charlottesville prepares to open its homeless shelter at 2000 Holiday Dr. on Tuesday, the CEO of the company tasked with running the new facility said it is fully staffed and ready to receive residents.
The facility is opening as a temporary low-barrier emergency shelter, focusing on overnight lodging, with a capacity of 120 occupants, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) Chief Executive Officer Nathan Smith told Cville Right Now on Monday. The city has announced it will clear the Free Bridge unhoused encampment beginning on Tuesday, coinciding with the shelter’s opening.
