OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A Russell, Iowa man has been arrested as authorities reported a threat was made against a Fremont-Mills Community School District School Board member in connection to a vote to be made during their Aug. 19 meeting in Tabor.
Eric Ballanger, 52, was arrested Aug. 28 by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa and has been transported to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office. He faces one count of terroristic threats. He is currently out on a $5,000 bond.
According to the FCSO, a school board member received a telephone call from a blocked number and was threatened to vote a certain way “or face consequences, including a threat of violence.”
Investigators were able to trace the call to Ballanger, they said. An examination of his cellphone showed that a private call was placed to the school board member the morning of Aug. 19 and a second call to another board member was made but not answered…
