BELCHERTOWN – The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority wants to draw as much as 20 million more gallons a day from the Quabbin Reservoir to expand its territory in eastern Massachusetts.
The authority says taking more water won’t harm the Quabbin or the waterways flowing from it.
But the request comes to a public hearing this month with the reservoir unusually low, 11 feet below normal, with mud flats left behind where there is normally water…
