Areas south of Interstate 94 are forecast to see the most intense heat index values of the day, with several communities including Niles, Adrian, and Kinderhook expected to reach or exceed 100 degrees. Detroit, Pontiac, and St. Clair are also positioned within this highest-risk zone for dangerous heat.
Kalamazoo, Jackson, Lansing, and Grand Rapids round out the list of communities expected to see feels like readings in the upper 90s to low 100s Tuesday afternoon, making this the most significant heat concern across the state.
Widespread 90s Extend Toward the M 55 Corridor
Beyond the highest-risk zone in southern Michigan, feels like temperatures in the 90s are expected to extend much farther north, reaching communities along and near the M-55 corridor including Cadillac, Mount Pleasant, and Saginaw. This represents a broad swath of the Lower Peninsula dealing with elevated heat index values.
Communities such as Muskegon, Holland, and West Branch also fall within this widespread 90s zone, meaning relief from the heat will be difficult to find across the majority of the Lower Peninsula on Tuesday.
