CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Some people leaving encampments along the Rivanna River are arriving at a new emergency shelter at 2000 Holiday Drive as the city works to clear the camps.
Central Arizona Shelter Services, known as CASS, is running the shelter. Staff says there’s been a larger presence than expected on the first day of opening. Nathan Smith, CEO of Central Arizona Shelter Services, said his team began helping people before arriving at the location.
