A Carlisle man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to an amended charge in a Warren County domestic abuse case.
According to the Order of Disposition filed last week, 47-year-old Jason Richard Shipman pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor, after the state amended the original charge of domestic abuse assault, third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony. Shipman was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $105, plus a 15-percent surcharge and court costs. He received credit for 30 days already served, but the remaining jail sentence was suspended, and he was placed on a one-year probation. The court also ordered Shipman to pay a $90 victim surcharge and immediately enroll in and complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program.
The original criminal complaint stemmed from a March 14th incident at a residence on Hardin Drive in Carlisle. According to police, the alleged victim reported being assaulted, resulting in injuries. Officers also reported seeing drug paraphernalia in plain view while investigating, and a subsequent search located drugs and additional paraphernalia.
