New Orleans krewes react to carnival fee advancing

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans city council members advanced a new carnival krewe fee, as city leaders say parade permit costs have not increased in years.

“Smaller krewes that are in the first tier, they have fewer riders. Middle tier and then the larger tier. It would be about $14 per rider, $8 per rider or $5 per rider. The overall average cost per Rider would be $6.64,” said New Orleans Director of Intergovernmental Relations Chuck Toney.
