SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) —Acacia, a four-year-old pouched rat at Utah’s Hogle Zoo, recently gave birth to five healthy pups.
The zoo’s newest pups, born on August 12, have grown quickly. Staff members will soon conduct the animals’ first veterinary examinations to determine the sex and weight of each baby.

The recent birth marks the second litter of pups born to Acacia at the Hogle Zoo. Staff noted that her maternal instincts have allowed her to be very attentive to her new pups.
