EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A total of 35 people were arrested in East Lansing over the weekend as students celebrated before classes started on Monday.
The arrests came during Michigan State University Welcome Week, when thousands of Spartan students populated the school’s campus and downtown East Lansing. The weekend brought students to the area bars, with lines out the doors and groups walking through the streets.
As students celebrated, police arrested 35 and issued 134 citations between Friday, Aug. 28 and Sunday, Aug. 30, the East Lansing Police Department said in a Tuesday release with a preliminary summary. It said there were 348 total calls of service.
