CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -For some families, a trip to the food pantry used to be rare. It is becoming part of a monthly routine as more people seek help.
Jane Colony Mills, executive director of Loaves and Fishes, said she is seeing more people needing help as federal food assistance cuts push more families to the food pantry.
“People are struggling. They’re trying to figure out what to do. And, you know, when we said, you can come to us twice a month, that person said, well, I already am. We’re trying to respond to an increased need as people go for SNAP review and are told that they no longer qualify to receive those benefits,” Mills said…
