SAN DIEGO (FOX5/KUSI) — As the San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln heads home following a deployment that recently included a stop in Thailand for rest and recreation, the Navy says another local carrier is preparing to take its place overseas.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt, also based in San Diego, is expected to begin a deployment sometime this month.
For security reasons, the Navy has not disclosed the carrier’s destination. However, there are indications the Roosevelt could relieve the USS George Washington, which was previously deployed to replace the Abraham Lincoln…
